A leading U.S. structural steel fabricator with over a century of heritage and major operations across the Midwest and Southeast is seeking a Training Coordinator / Welding Inspector to support its bridge fabrication facility in Palatka.
Specialising in complex bridge structures - from plate girders to trusses and cable-stayed systems - the business holds advanced certifications through the American Institute of Steel Construction, including fracture-critical and sophisticated paint endorsements.

🎯 The Opportunity
Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will take ownership of training strategy and technical competency across fabrication operations. This is a visible, shop-floor-facing position requiring strong weld knowledge and the credibility to influence experienced tradespeople.
Core Objectives
- Develop and implement structured fabrication training programs
- Ensure workforce competency in weld procedures and blueprint reading
- Maintain compliance with industry standards and internal policies
- Embed measurable training metrics and documentation controls
🔧 Key Responsibilities
- Conduct facility-wide training needs assessments
- Design and update training manuals, SOPs, and materials
- Deliver classroom and hands-on shop floor training
- Coordinate training schedules to avoid production disruption
- Track certifications, attendance, and compliance documentation
- Evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements
- Partner with Production, Quality, Safety, and HR teams
🧩 What We're Looking For
- Several years of hands-on structural steel or heavy fabrication experience
- Strong working knowledge of weld procedures and inspection fundamentals
- Blueprint reading expertise
- Experience with oxy-fuel torches and fabrication tools
- 3-5+ years delivering training within manufacturing or construction
- Solid understanding of adult learning principles
- Confident communicator who can engage shop floor teams and leadership
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Ability to work second shift
