Job Title:Supplier Industrialization Engineer - Electronics & Mechanical Components
Location: San Francisco, CA
Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 + benefits, based on experience
Day to Day
- Support the industrialization and scaling of mechanical and electronics suppliers through NPI and mass production.
- Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to ensure supplier readiness and part qualification.
- Support supplier audits, process approvals, capacity assessments, and production readiness reviews.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, dimensional reports, and quality data to ensure supplier compliance.
- Support PPAP, FAI, APQP, SPC, and process control activities.
- Drive supplier non-conformance resolution, 8D investigations, and corrective actions.
- Maintain supplier scorecards covering quality, yield, PPM, delivery, capacity, and responsiveness.
- Provide DFM/DFA feedback and support NPI builds and pilot production.
- Help develop and qualify a robust global supplier network across CNC machining, sheet metal, stampings, extrusions, injection molding, busbars, harnesses, and PCBA.
- Support make-vs-buy, dual sourcing, localization, lead-time, and manufacturing footprint strategies.
- Work directly with suppliers to improve quality, reliability, capacity, cost, and delivery performance.
- Travel internationally to supplier and manufacturing sites as required, approximately 30%.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Economics, or equivalent technical experience.
- 2-5+ years of experience in supplier quality, supplier industrialization, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or a related field.
- Experience within electronics, automotive, industrial hardware, energy, or high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, stamping, casting, injection molding, extrusion, sheet metal, welding, riveting, and plating.
- Understanding of PCBA manufacturing, including SMT, through-hole/selective soldering, reflow, and test strategies.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and GD&T.
- Familiarity with PPAP, FAI, APQP, SPC, DFMEA/PFMEA, ISO quality systems, and 8D problem solving.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Willingness to travel internationally to supplier sites, approximately 30%.
