We are seeking a committed and motivated Social Work Assistant to join an established and supportive fostering service team. Working alongside the Principal Social Worker and Service Manager, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality services, providing essential support and supervision to foster carers to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an allocated caseload of foster carers, providing ongoing support, guidance, and supervision
  • Contribute to the effective delivery of fostering services within a supportive team environment
  • Work collaboratively with the Principal Social Worker, Service Manager, and wider team to ensure consistent service delivery
  • Support foster carers to provide safe, stable, and nurturing environments for children and young people
  • Undertake assessments, care planning, and reviews to ensure the quality of care is maintained
  • Carry out risk assessments and contribute to safeguarding decisions and interventions
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records using relevant recording systems
  • Develop, implement, and review person-centred and enabling care plans
  • Work effectively with multi-agency professionals including health, education, and social care partners
  • Apply knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Social Services and Well-being Act and Fostering Regulations
  • Demonstrate a trauma-informed and child-centred approach to practice (desirable)
  • Review and monitor the quality of foster placements and identify areas for improvement
  • Participate in training, supervision, and professional development to support role requirements
  • Work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility as the service develops
  • Respond to the changing needs of the service and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
