Job Title: Structural Steel Site Manager
Location: East London (with potential UK-wide travel)
Job Type: Contract (Approx. 2 Months) - Potential for Permanent
About the Role
An established structural steel contractor is seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee steel erection works on a project in East London. This is an immediate requirement with a start available from early/mid April, with the possibility of a longer-term opportunity for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day structural steel installation on-site
- Supervise subcontractors, labour, and lifting operations
- Ensure full compliance with UK health & safety regulations (CDM, LOLER, PUWER)
- Implement RAMS, lifting plans, and quality procedures
- Coordinate with main contractor, engineers, and client teams
- Monitor programme and report progress/issues
- Oversee deliveries, offloading, and storage of steelwork
- Manage snagging, QA, and project handover
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in structural steel site management
- Strong background in steel erection (frames, multi-storey, or similar)
- SMSTS and CSCS (Black/Gold Card) - essential
- Experience working with Tier 1 contractors
- Good understanding of drawings, connections, and site tolerances
- Full UK driving licence
