Quantity Surveyor - Structural Steel

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established structural steel fabrication business delivering high-quality projects across commercial, industrial, residential, and infrastructure sectors. This is a senior commercial role with responsibility for managing project costs, contractual obligations, and financial performance across a portfolio of structural steelwork projects.
The successful candidate will have previous experience working within a structural steel fabricator or closely within the steel/construction sector, with a strong understanding of fabrication, erection, and project delivery processes.
What you'll do:
- Manage all commercial and financial aspects of structural steel projects from pre-contract through to final account
- Prepare and review cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow forecasts
- Carry out valuations, variations, and applications for payment
- Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual terms
- Work closely with estimating, design, project management, and site teams
- Negotiate with clients and subcontractors to protect margins and ensure profitability
- Monitor project costs and provide regular financial reporting
- Assist with procurement of materials and subcontract packages
- Lead on final account preparation and commercial close-out
You'll need:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a structural steel fabricator or steel-focused contractor
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication, detailing, and erection processes
- Experience managing valuations, variations, and full project cost control
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and contract documentation
- Strong negotiation and commercial management skills
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication abilities
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction (preferred)
- Ability to manage multiple high-value projects simultaneously
