Are you a Quality Assurance Manager with strong structural steel experience who knows how to make quality systems work in a live fabrication and site environment?

This is an opportunity to take ownership of quality across a specialist structural steel contractor, working across design, fabrication and erection and having a direct influence on the standards, systems and processes that keep projects compliant and on programme.

The Role

As Quality Assurance Manager, you will take ownership of the company's quality systems across both the fabrication workshop and site operations.

You'll work closely with the Managing Director, production, site and design teams to ensure projects are delivered to the required standards, while identifying areas for improvement and driving corrective action when issues arise.

You'll have the authority to stop work where quality requirements aren't being met, making this a hands-on role with genuine responsibility and influence.

What You'll Be Doing

• Manage and maintain ISO 9001 quality systems across fabrication and site operations.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with EN 1090 and CE/UKCA marking requirements.
• Develop, implement and maintain ITPs, WPSs, inspection procedures and quality plans.
• Ensure inspection and quality documentation is completed accurately and on time.
• Investigate defects and non-conformances, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Lead regular quality reviews with production and site teams.
• Monitor and close out NCRs within agreed timescales.
• Support the qualification, assessment and competency of welders, inspectors and erectors.
• Work with welding and NDT resources to maintain required inspection standards.
• Ensure project quality files are complete, accurate and ready for handover.
• Work closely with clients, directors and project teams on quality-related matters.
• Travel to sites across the UK as required.

About You

We're looking for someone who has genuine hands-on experience within structural steel fabrication and erection, rather than someone whose experience is purely systems or office based.

You'll ideally have:

• Proven experience implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 within structural steel.
• Strong knowledge of EN 1090 and CE/UKCA marking.
• Experience producing and enforcing ITPs, WPSs, welding qualifications and inspection regimes.
• A strong understanding of welding, fabrication and site erection processes.
• Experience investigating defects and driving effective corrective action.
• Relevant engineering and/or welding inspection qualifications such as CEng, IEng, CSWIP or PCN, or equivalent.
• The confidence to work directly with directors, production teams, site teams and clients.
• A credible presence within both a workshop and live site environment.
• A full UK driving licence.
