About the Role
We are currently recruiting experienced and passionate Qualified Social Workers to join a high-performing Children's Services team in Birmingham. The successful candidate will manage a complex caseload and play a key role in safeguarding children through high-quality assessment, planning, intervention, and partnership working.
This role would suit social workers with experience in Child Protection, Children in Need, Looked After Children, Court Work, and multi-agency safeguarding practice.
Key Responsibilities
Safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable children and young people through effective social work practice.
Manage a complex caseload in line with statutory responsibilities and legislative frameworks.
Undertake assessments, develop care and protection plans, and ensure children's needs remain central to all interventions.
Work collaboratively with families, partner agencies, and multi-disciplinary professionals to achieve positive outcomes.
Prepare high-quality reports and present evidence at conferences, panels, and court proceedings where required.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case recordings using electronic management systems.
Participate in child protection conferences, strategy meetings, reviews, and care planning meetings.
Contribute positively within a supportive team environment and engage in continuous professional development.
Keep up to date with relevant legislation, policy changes, safeguarding procedures, and best practice guidance.
Requirements
Essential
Social Work qualification (Degree / DipSW / CQSW or equivalent).
Registration with Social Work England (SWE).
Significant experience working with vulnerable children and families within statutory children's services.
Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, child protection processes, and court proceedings.
Experience working effectively with statutory and voluntary agencies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure within a fast-paced environment.
