Project Manager - Commercial Glazing

About the Opportunity

An established, family-owned commercial glazing contractor is looking to add an experienced Project Manager to its growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager who is ready to take ownership of commercial projects and develop their career within an established contractor focused on quality, long-term relationships and repeat business.

The successful candidate will manage projects from planning and preconstruction through completion, working closely with clients, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, field teams and internal staff.

Project Profile

  • Primarily commercial construction projects
  • Majority of projects are mid-rise
  • Strong focus on curtain wall
  • Experience with preglazing is beneficial
  • Growing exposure to unitized curtain wall
  • Typical projects valued at $1M+
  • Larger projects can reach $7M-$10M
  • Opportunity to work on complex and technically challenging glazing projects

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution and closeout of assigned commercial glazing projects
  • Manage project scope, schedules and budgets from award through completion
  • Coordinate with clients, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors and internal teams
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and milestones
  • Manage RFIs, CORs, submittals and project documentation
  • Assist with project cost control and financial reporting
  • Coordinate pay applications with the Project Coordinator
  • Review architectural, structural and glazing shop drawings
  • Interpret project specifications, contracts and construction documents
  • Identify project risks and develop practical solutions
  • Coordinate with field teams to keep projects on schedule and within budget
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and project stakeholders
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably and to required quality standards
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and project partners

Required Experience & Skills

  • Experience in commercial construction project management
  • Strong understanding of project schedules, budgets and scope
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and project activities
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and shop drawings
  • Experience working with general contractors, subcontractors and vendors
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage projects from start to finish

Preferred Experience

  • Commercial glazing experience
  • Curtain wall experience
  • Architectural glass or building envelope experience
  • Preglazing or unitized curtain wall experience
  • Experience with RFIs, CORs, submittals and pay applications
  • Project cost control and financial reporting experience
  • Previous field or construction superintendent experience

Software

Experience with the following is preferred:

  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Word
  • Bluebeam
  • Construction/project management software

Education & Experience

A Bachelor's degree related to construction is preferred but not required.

Candidates with an equivalent combination of technical training, construction experience and glazing-industry experience will also be considered.

The most important factor is demonstrated experience and the ability to successfully manage commercial construction projects.
