The Role:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Plumber to join the Housing Repairs team. The successful candidate will carry out a wide range of plumbing repair and maintenance tasks across tenanted and void properties, ensuring all works are completed to a high standard of quality, safety, and customer care.
This role will also involve associated works such as kitchen unit refitting, wall and floor tiling, skirting, panelling, and ducting where required. The postholder will attend appointments between 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday.
- Undertake plumbing repair and maintenance tasks in both occupied and unoccupied properties.
- Carry out fault-finding, repairs, and installations to a high professional standard.
- Assist in emergency call-outs as required (e.g. flood damage, vandalism, weather-related repairs).
- Complete associated works such as unit removal/refitting, tiling, skirting, panelling, and ducting.
- Undertake inspection activities as directed by the Works Supervisor.
- Maintain and be responsible for a company vehicle, including safe driving and secure storage of materials and tools.
- Ensure all health and safety regulations, protective clothing, and safe working practices are adhered to.
- Provide excellent customer service, communicating clearly with tenants and clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Keep accurate records, write reports, and update work orders as required.
- Manage and account for vehicle stock/materials.
- Attend training, meetings, and appointments promptly and professionally.

The Candidate:
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of repairs and maintenance practices (S).
- Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations (S).
- Ability to fault-find and repair hot/cold water leaks and bursts (S).
- Skilled in bathroom and kitchen installations.
- Experience with immersion tanks, immersion heaters, and hot water systems.
- Measuring, fitting, and ordering materials accurately.
- Good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
- Time management and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications (Essential)
- City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing (S).
- Valid Unvented Hot Water Systems Certificate/Licence.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Experience
- Demonstrable experience working in the building trade industry (S).
- Experience of plumbing repairs in residential and/or social housing.
- Experience working with diverse communities (S).
- Teamwork and collaboration experience.
