About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Investigation Support Officer (ISO) to join our team. This is a pivotal role, supporting complex investigations by conducting research, gathering evidence, liaising with statutory partners, and carrying out safeguarding responsibilities. You will play a key role in ensuring investigations are conducted efficiently, professionally, and in line with legislation and force policy.
Key Responsibilities
Interview witnesses and victims, obtaining accurate statements to support case files.
Assist with suspect interviews and assess the reliability of statements and evidence.
Manage the seizure, review, and analysis of CCTV and other evidence, producing clear and detailed reports.
Carry out house-to-house enquiries and provide evidence in court when required.
Undertake investigative research using relevant systems and procedures, maintaining accurate records.
Liaise with victims and witnesses, providing updates and ensuring appropriate support.
Act as exhibits officer when required, ensuring proper handling, storage, and security of evidence.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation such as PACE, CPIA, and RIPA.
Work closely with Children's Social Care and statutory partners to complete safeguarding actions.
Conduct risk assessments and safeguarding activities to mitigate risks to victims, witnesses, and suspects.
Essential Requirements
Eligible to work in the UK.
Full clean UK driving licence (role requires travel).
Achieving Best Evidence (ABE) trained.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Desirable Experience/Qualifications
PIP2 qualification and/or Sexual Offence Trained Officer (SOTO) qualification.
Recent experience in safeguarding vulnerable persons.
Previous involvement in criminal investigations, including interviewing adults and children.
Knowledge of force intelligence systems such as Athena and PNC (training can be provided).
