Homeless Welcome Worker

Location: North London
Hours: Monday - Friday, between 8am and 6pm
Salary: £ (Band SC4 equivalent, dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-time


About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and organised Welcome Worker to join a busy housing-related support service for individuals affected by, or at risk of, homelessness.

This vital front-facing role is the first point of contact for all visitors, ensuring everyone is received in a warm, respectful and well-managed environment. You'll help the service run smoothly through effective communication, administration and coordination support - making a genuine difference to the lives of those in need.


Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist individuals accessing the service, providing a calm and supportive presence.

  • Handle front-of-house communication including phone, email and in-person queries.

  • Manage appointment bookings, activity timetables and shared calendars.

  • Maintain stock levels and organise supplies and donations for distribution.

  • Report and record maintenance issues to ensure a safe, well-kept environment.

  • Promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere for guests, staff and visiting professionals.

  • Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health & safety standards in all areas of work.

  • Collaborate with partner agencies to ensure access to relevant community support.


About You

  • Experience or strong understanding of the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.

  • Organised, self-motivated and able to manage a varied workload.

  • Confident IT skills including Microsoft Office.

  • A compassionate, proactive approach with a commitment to helping others.
