Job Title: Global Supply Manager - Mechanicals
Location: San Francisco, California, United States
Salary: $115,000 - $150,000
Day to day
- Lead end-to-end RFx processes, from defining requirements and issuing RFQs through supplier evaluation and selection.
- Develop and maintain should-cost models for mechanical components, including injection-moulded plastics, stamped components, fasteners, connectors and harnesses.
- Negotiate piece prices, tooling costs, payment terms and supplier agreements.
- Manage commercial relationships with key suppliers, including performance tracking, escalations and relationship development.
- Drive supplier readiness throughout new product introduction, production ramp and ongoing manufacturing.
- Support cost, capacity planning and lead-time management initiatives.
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver the mechanicals sourcing roadmap.
- Present clear sourcing recommendations to senior and executive stakeholders.
- Travel domestically and internationally, averaging approximately 25%.
Requirements
- Experience sourcing mechanical components, with exposure to injection moulding, stamping, harness assembly and off-the-shelf components such as fasteners.
- Understanding of manufacturing cost drivers for custom components and tooling.
- 1-3+ years of sourcing or procurement experience in a similar role.
- Strong Excel and spreadsheet skills.
- Strong project management capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexible mindset with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with custom part development.
- Strong track record of applying first-principles thinking to supplier negotiations.
- Experience managing supplier escalations through to executive level.
- Experience using MRP/ERP systems.
