Day to Day
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
- Perform quantity take-offs for structural steel and miscellaneous metals.
- Price materials, fabrication, erection, coatings, freight, and connections.
- Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Assess labour requirements and project costs.
- Identify project risks, scheduling constraints, and constructability challenges.
- Prepare detailed estimates, budgets, and bid proposals.
- Attend bid review meetings with company leadership.
- Liaise with general contractors, architects, engineers, and project stakeholders.
- Support project handover and contract negotiations following award.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of structural steel estimating experience.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication and erection.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyse construction drawings.
- Established relationships with major general contractors and industry contacts.
- Track record of generating or securing approximately $2M-$3M+ of work annually.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Stable work history and strong professional presence.
