Core Function
The Estimator will play a critical role in developing accurate and competitive estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects. This position involves evaluating bid documents, preparing scope letters, managing material takeoffs, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure successful project bidding and execution.

They specialize in delivering high-quality structural steel and miscellaneous metal solutions for commercial and industrial projects. Projects typically range from $100,000 to $3,000,000 in miscellaneous metals and $500,000 to $10,000,000 in structural steel.
Responsibilities
- Analyze bid documents, blueprints, and specifications to assess the scope of work and develop accurate project estimates.
- Create and send detailed scope letters to clients prior to bid deadlines, ensuring all critical information is covered.
- Perform material takeoffs, labor calculations, and equipment needs using industry-standard software.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including the Chief Estimator and Project Managers, to review and finalize bids before submission.
- Manage pricing for change orders and revisions, maintaining accuracy and ensuring profitability for awarded projects.
Requirements
- Proven experience in the construction industry, preferably with a focus on estimating and bidding.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in analytical and mathematical skills, including experience with estimating software and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface with general contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; additional construction-related certifications or training is a plus.
