The operations cover oil & gas fabrication, pressure vessels, ASME/API code work, structural steel and utility structures. Strong hands-on experience in both fabrication/welding quality and ASME/API and AWS requirements is essential.
This is not simply a senior inspection position. We need a proven quality leader who has owned a manufacturer's quality programme and successfully managed customer, third-party and industry audits.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and continuously improve the QMS across two fabrication operations.
- Ensure compliance with ASME, API, API Q1, AWS and customer requirements.
- Lead, develop and hold the quality team accountable.
- Maintain audit readiness and act as the key contact for customers, registrars and third-party inspectors.
- Provide hands-on shop-floor quality leadership.
- Oversee WPS/PQRs, welder qualifications, welding inspection, NDE, material traceability, MTRs and heat numbers.
- Support structural steel quality and AWS requirements.
- Lead non-conformance investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Partner with production, engineering, operations and executive leadership to maintain quality while supporting delivery and growth.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Director of Quality, Head of Quality, Senior Quality Manager or similar.
- 5+ years leading QA/QC management systems, including document control.
- Strong background in steel, heavy manufacturing or industrial fabrication.
- Significant hands-on manufacturing quality experience.
- Active CWI certification required.
- Strong knowledge of welding, fabrication and ASME, API, API Q1 and AWS requirements.
- Experience with both pressure-vessel/code fabrication and structural steel.
- Strong understanding of WPS/PQRs, welder qualifications, NDE and material traceability.
- Experience leading quality teams and managing audits across multiple facilities or operations.
- Strong continuous-improvement and growth mindset.
Highly Desirable
- API Q1 Auditor credentials
- Additional welding/NDE certifications
- NDE Level II/III
- English/Spanish bilingual
- Pressure-vessel and structural steel fabrication experience
- Experience scaling quality systems across multiple facilities
