Council Tax Adviser

£20 per hour (umbrella)
Full Time Contract (6 months )
Novax Recruitment is actively seeking a Council Tax Adviser in Haringey. This is a contract without a scope for extension working full time hours. The employer can offer mostly remote working with 1 day per week in the office required.
The job:
- Focused on establishing correct liability and eligibility to discounts/exemptions
- Determine the correct liable party for Council Tax, Business Rates and BID levy in order for all required notices to be issued as soon as practicable. This is to be achieved in line with relevant legislation, case law & local procedures.
- Ensure eligibility to any potential reliefs, discounts or, exemptions are identified and awarded within a timely manner
- Attend magistrates court liability order and other committal hearings in support of the Court Officer/Team Manager
- Accurately calculate and create refunds where overpayments have been made.
The candidate:
- Proficient in the use of NEC and I@W processing systems
- A minimum of 5 years' experience within a revenues team
- Ability to negotiate payment plans on Council Tax debt
- Ability to administer Council Tax and respond to all enquiries in line with legislation and policy
- Ability to liaise with internal and external bodies
