We're looking for a talented Communications Officer to join a proactive and collaborative team within a Greenwich-based local authority.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead meaningful communications and engagement campaigns that directly support and inform residents, while helping manage and enhance the Council's reputation.

The Role

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll:

  • Develop, manage and evaluate internal and external communications and engagement campaigns across multiple channels and media.

  • Lead proactive and reactive media relations, including drafting press releases, responding to media enquiries, and managing reputational issues.

  • Create clear, engaging content for websites, publications, social media, and stakeholder communications.

  • Support and advise council services, councillors, and senior leaders on best practice in communications and public engagement.

  • Use social media and digital platforms to engage residents and share key messages.

  • Contribute to consultation and engagement projects with residents, partners, and stakeholders.

About You

You'll bring:

  • Strong experience in communications, media relations or public engagement - ideally within a public sector or local government setting.

  • Excellent writing, editing and digital content skills.

  • Confidence in managing press and public responses in high-profile or sensitive situations.

  • A good understanding of how to engage diverse audiences through targeted campaigns.

  • A collaborative, professional and forward-thinking approach.
