We are working on behalf of a well-established, values-driven manufacturing organization with multiple facilities across the U.S. The company fosters a collaborative culture with a focus on continuous improvement, lean operations, and delivering quality products on time. Their team is expanding, and they are currently seeking an experienced Buyer to join their supply chain operations at one of their key production sites.

Core Function of the Role

The Buyer will be responsible for managing the daily procurement of goods and services essential for meeting production, sales, and operational needs. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, this position requires strong decision-making, negotiation, and vendor management skills to ensure seamless supply chain performance. The Buyer will work independently and play a vital role in ensuring material availability, cost efficiency, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Place and manage purchase orders using MRP systems based on demand forecasts; expedite deliveries as necessary.
  • Source materials and services from approved suppliers, ensuring optimal cost, quality, and lead times.
  • Coordinate with internal teams including production, scheduling, engineering, and customer service to meet operational goals.
  • Maintain procurement records, participate in physical inventories, and manage non-conformance issues related to purchased goods.
  • Support initiatives to identify alternative materials, drive cost savings, and improve supplier performance in collaboration with commodity managers.

Requirements

  • 4+ years in a manufacturing environment in roles related to purchasing, inventory control, scheduling, or accounting; or a relevant degree with at least 2 years of related experience.
  • High school diploma minimum; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Industrial Manufacturing preferred.
  • Proficiency with MRP systems and PC-based software is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively engage with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong critical thinking and time management abilities; capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
