Building Control Surveyor
Location: Somerset
Rate: £48 per hour (paid via umbrella)
Contract Length: 24 weeks (approx. 6 months)
Somerset Council is seeking an experienced Building Control Surveyor to join the team on a 6-month contract basis.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out inspections of building works to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.
Assess and check plans, specifications, and calculations.
Provide professional advice to applicants, agents, and members of the public.
Investigate and resolve contraventions of Building Regulations.
Liaise with other departments, external bodies, and stakeholders to support safe and compliant development.
Requirements:
Proven experience working as a Building Control Surveyor within a local authority or similar environment.
Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, technical standards, and associated legislation.
Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
Ability to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines.
Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., RICS, CABE, CIOB) desirable.
