Specialist Attendance Officer - Vulnerable Children
Location: Walsall
Rate of Pay:£20 Umbrella P/H
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (30-minute unpaid break)
Contract Duration: From 1st September 2025 to 28th November 2025
Term-Time Duration: Until July 2026, with potential for extension
Driving Requirement: Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle essential
About the Role
Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable children and making a tangible difference in their educational journey? We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Specialist Attendance Officer to join a dedicated School Attendance Support Service, working within a Prevention and Reintegration Team.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with schools, families, and professionals to ensure children receive their full educational entitlement and achieve the best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Support schools in meeting statutory duties relating to attendance, exclusions, children missing education, and elective home education
Champion the educational needs of vulnerable children and those disengaged from education
Work directly with families and children to develop tailored intervention plans
Manage a personal caseload with accurate, timely record keeping
Conduct home visits and assess visit frequency based on individual need
Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings including Early Help and Child in Need
Apply knowledge of SEND legislation and guidance in all aspects of work
Requirements
Experience supporting children, young people, and families in education, health, or social care settings
Sound knowledge of safeguarding, attendance legislation, exclusions, CME, EBSA, and SEND
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships
Ability to deliver flexible, responsive support based on individual needs
Competent IT and written communication skills, with a high standard of record keeping
Able to communicate confidently in accurate spoken English
Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle
