🎯 The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join an established and growing structural steel organisation in the Central Texas area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction or project professional looking to build a long-term career within the structural steel industry.

Working alongside experienced Project Managers, you'll gain exposure to projects from initial proposal through to final closeout, while also spending regular time on active job sites. The role offers genuine responsibility from the outset, together with a clear pathway toward progressing into a Project Manager position.

🚀 What You'll Be Doing

You'll support the planning, coordination and successful delivery of structural steel projects, working closely with internal teams, customers, vendors and subcontractors.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and interpreting structural drawings, specifications and contract documents.
  • Supporting the development and monitoring of project schedules, budgets and milestones.
  • Coordinating between customers, project teams, fabrication/shop operations and field crews.
  • Maintaining project documentation, schedules and project management systems.
  • Supporting vendor and subcontractor coordination and performance.
  • Assisting with change orders and drawing reviews.
  • Preparing project progress, schedule and budget updates.
  • Supporting customer communication and relationship management.
  • Visiting active job sites to monitor progress and address field issues.
  • Helping ensure office, fabrication and field operations remain aligned throughout the project life-cycle.
  • Supporting projects from proposal through to closeout.

✅ What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • 5+ years of general project management or construction experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Desirable Experience

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience within commercial structural steel fabrication.
  • Experience with Tekla or similar project/fabrication software.
  • Understanding of change-management processes and project reporting.
