An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Therapy Assistant to work in Haringey within the Adult Social Care Setting. The purpose of the role is to formulate and deliver a programme of therapy or care under the supervision of a therapist, with the aim to maximise independence for Haringey residents. This will include:

• Delivering therapy-based interventions
• To assess for and provide equipment and adaptations
• To complete preventative assessments under the direction of a therapist and set SMART goals for clients in relation to their care and therapy needs
• To assess carer’s of residents
• To assess residents’ ongoing care and support needs following a period of reablement and set outcome focussed support plans

Main Responsibilities

• To assess the functional abilities and ongoing care needs of people with physical disabilities in their homes with the aim to increase independence and improve their safety.

• To set SMART goals with people that show potential for further improvement

• To provide reablement intervention under the guidance of a therapist, including teaching appropriate techniques for washing, dressing, transfers, safe mobility and meal preparation to increase independence

• To identify and order equipment and aids that can optimise function and prompt independence

Skills and Experience:

• Equivalent of NVQ level 3 in health and social care
• Relevant experience working with people with care and therapy needs and disabilities (paid or unpaid), ideally in a reablement setting
• Experience setting strength-based goals with clients in a care or therapy setting
• Experience in assessing for and reviewing simple pieces equipment
• Ability to write memos letters and reports
